He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Koltes and Lillian Koltes (Oncken); his sister Mary (Schaenzer); his daughter Jenny; and his wife Colette.

He is survived by: his brother James; his daughters, Abby Koltes of Waunakee, Polly Koltes (Dave Langowski) of Lodi and Wendy (Doug Koop); his grandchildren, Amanda Taylor-Tennent (Ross Tennent), Jordan Taylor (Ashley) of Waunakee, Jakob "Cubby" Taylor (Emily) of Mazomanie and Josephine Langowski of Lodi; and his great grandchildren, Stella, Fiona Tennent, Lydia, Haley Taylor, Collin and Riley Taylor.

Joe recently made a donation to support the new Waunakee Public Library.
