Lawrence L. Cherrey Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lawrence L. Cherrey (Shullsburg, Wisconsin), who passed away on April 12, 2020, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn Cherrey and Ila Cherrey (Fowler); his parents-in-law, Clarence and Sarah Bird; his siblings, Carol Lennartz and Darrell Cherrey (Bud); his siblings-in-law, William Bird, Alan Bird, Paul Fitzgerald and Maureen Bird; and his stepgreat-grandson DJ Lindsey.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth L. Bird; his children, Lee Gill (Rick) of Shullsburg, Lisa Diedrich (Joe) of Shullsburg and Kent Cherrey (Joann); his grandchildren, Brock Gill (Karen), Lindsey Poppy (Pete), Reid Gill (Jenna), Ashley Frontz (Kevin), Sarah Santiago (Ed), Hannah Farrington (Jason), Jeremiah Diedrich (Danica) and Mariah Booth (Adam); his stepgrandchildren, Carrie Coughi (Travis), Patrick Mulligan (Lita) and Elise Peterson; his sister Marcella Russell (Charles); and his sisters-in-law, Carol Cherrey, Carolyn Fitzgerald and Annette Bird. He is also survived by 27 great-grandchildren.
Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic a private family funeral service will be held at Erickson Funeral Home in Shullsburg with Pastor Ed Santiago of Benton United Methodist Church officiating.
