He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Brunner and Marie Matri Brunner; his sons, Steven, Craig and Kyle; and his siblings, Duane, Lana Davis (Floyd), Linda Brunner, Gloria Burrus and Donna Blazel.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia A. Smedegard; his sons, Mitchel Brunner of Sheboygan and Troy Brunner of Sheboygan; his grandchildren, Arron Brunner, Courtney Daily (Ryan), Katlyn Brunner, Andrew Brunner (Brooke), Samantha Brunner, Sterling Brunner, Joseph Brunner (Stellina), Preston Brunner and Atom Brunner; and his sister-in-law Jeannine Cullen. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial fund has been established in his name.
