He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerhardt Schmidt and Leona Schmidt (Kropp); and his former wife Carol Frick. He is survived by: his wife LaVonne Wheeler of Reedsburg; his daughter Christy Rudolf (Rob) of McFarland; his stepchildren, Wendy Krolikowski (Dan) of Reedsburg and Craig Henke of Reedsburg; his grandchildren, Allison, Megan, Jack Rudolf, Dane, Elliot and Gwen Krolikowski; his brother Gordon Schmidt (Ruth) of Wonewoc; his nephews, Matt Schmidt of Wonewoc and John Schmidt (Katie) of Plain; and his niece Rebecca Gustafson (Mark) of Monticello. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials of remembrance may be made to St. John Lutheran Church of Rock Springs.
