We are sad to announce that on February 26, 2022, at the age of 92, Jean D. Schwantes (Portage, Wisconsin), born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Earl Alvin and Lois Elizabeth Giese (Youmans); and her brother Jack Giese. She is survived by: her husband Gilbert Schwantes, Jr.; her children, Michael Schwantes (Kathleen) of Cary, IL, Daniel Schwantes (Sofia), Columbus, Kathryn Wahl (Kevin) of Alexandria, MN, Christine Sherwood of Taos, NM, Gil Schwantes (Julie) of Sierra Vista, AZ, Steven Schwantes (Tracy) and Madison; her grandchildren, David Schwantes (Eileen), Tracy Sherwood, Sedona Stinson (Devon), James Schwantes (Bethany), Sarah, Daniel, Michelle, Michael Wahl, Amanda (Brent), Brett and Christopher Schwantes; her great grandchildren, Elliot and Max Schwantes; and her sister Betsy Katona.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church in Portage or the Portage Historical Society.
