He was predeceased by: his parents, Orville Fortney and Alice Fortney (Mohlman); his sons, Kevin Fortney, George Gibbs and Clark McBride; and his brothers, Roger Jentz and Joe Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Patti; his children, John "Jay" Fortney (Anita), Gina Quinonez (Joe), Sean Fortney (Amanda), Terri Hoogheem (Steve), Todd Williams, Traci Henderson (Jerry), Trevor Russell, Mike Gibbs and Vineta Smith; and his siblings, Elizabeth Bartels, Barb Myers (Gene), Jeanette Hull, Helene Bennett (Jack) and Kenny (Patsy). He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
