She is survived by: her husband Abram Smies; her children, Susan Bruggink (Paul), Sally Obbink (Daniel), Sharon, Scot Smies (Joy) and Steve Smies (Georgia); and her grandchildren, Kari Meinen (Andy), Jamie Brill (Andy), Stephanie Warren (Curtis), Brian Smies (Sharon), Katie Ellens (Cody), Kelly Franje (Kurt), Sean Bruggink (Tracy), Ross Bruggink (Jessica) and Elizabeth Smies.
