She was predeceased by: her father John Leys; her husband Alfred Heinen; her siblings, Dena DenBoer, John Leys Jr., Anetta Gabrielse, Kathryn Ver Velde, Marvin Leys, Peter Leys, Agnes Gabrielse, Janet Buteyn, Daniel Leys, Clarence Leys, Wilbert Leys and Calvin Leys; and her daughter-in-law Sandi Heinen.
She is survived by: her sons, David Heinen (Kathy) of Pella, IA and Jack Heinen (Mary Ann) of Black Mountain, NC; her grandchildren, Jodi Vande Noord (Jeremy), Jon Heinen (Tricia), Beth Bell (Christian) and Rebecca Heinen; and her great grandchildren, Jaydon Vande Noord (Megan), Janae Vande Noord, Maclane Heinen, Morgan Heinen, Maggie Heinen and Maddux Heinen. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
Memorial contributions can be made in Doris' honor to Oostburg Christian School.
