He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin O'Neil and Lavila O'Neil (Plum); his wife Donna Messenger; his son Melvin O'Neil; his grandson Patrick Courchaine; his son-in-law Richard Gove; and his siblings, Claudine Gehling, Mary Lou Louiser and Phillip O'Neil.

He is survived by: his children, Carol Courchaine (Cletus), Susan Gove, John O'Neil (Corrine) and Todd O'Neil; his grandchildren, Dennis Courchaine (Kristine), Ann Oleyniczak (Randy), Jamye Courchaine, John Gove, Chuck Gove, Stephanie Gove, Ashley Stellmacher (Steve), Lindsey Gossen, Bridget Lipp, David O'Neil, Eric O'Neil and Damien O'Neil; and his great great grandchild Brianna Oleyniczak.
