He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred and Alice; and also Thomas (Alice). He is survived by: his spouse Nadeen Balsis; his children, Shawn Balsis-Budney (Brian), Kyle Balsis (Bethany) and Shay Karls (Jeremy); and his grandchildren, Ethan, Mason, Payton, Addison, Jaxson, Jenna, Camden and Weston.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Robert's name can be made to the Special Olympics of Wisconsin.
