He was predeceased by: his parents, Glen Thanig and Frances Thanig (Nechuta); his parents-in-law, Ervin Cisler, Sr. and Dorothy Cisler; his stepmother-in-law Leona Cisler; his siblings-in-law, Katsuko Thanig, Nancy Nechuta, Patricia Krueger, John "Tiny" Krueger, Lee Koprowski, Ronald Small and Steve Benson; and his nephews, Terry Koprowski and Matthew Cisler.
He is survived by: his wife Penny; his children, Lori Kyhos (Jerry), Cathy Zebro (Dan) and John Thanig; his grandchildren, Lindsay Kyhos, Christine Kyhos, Janelle Hitz (Todd) and Raquelle Zebro (Dylan Beyer); his siblings, Glen Thanig, Janet Koprowski and Paulette Creswell (Dennis); and his siblings-in-law, William Nechuta, Ervin Cisler, Jr. (Carla), Pam Small and Beverly Benson.
