He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert W. Schulz and Frances Nelson Schulz (Brattlie); and his siblings-in-law, James Gaber, Barb Fassbender and Connie Birkrem.
He is survived by: his wife Beverly J. Birkrem; his children, Sarah Shine (Robbie) of Colorado and Matthew of Sun Prairie; his granddaughters, Emery and Kaia Shine; his siblings, James (Joyce), Arne (Darlene) of Deerfield and Gayna Gaber of Presque Isle; and his siblings-in-law, Janis Schumacher (DuWayne), Sharon Holzapfel (Ron), Carrie Besch (Mark), Gail Duckert (Gary), Lee Fassbender, Warren Birkrem (Connie), David Birkrem (Valerie), Douglas Birkrem and Todd Birkrem (Lisa). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
