He was predeceased by: his mother Karen Schmidt; his grandparents, David Hundley, Anthony and Dolores Schmidt; and his uncle Jimmy Schmidt.
He is survived by: his wife Caitlin; his children, Aiden, Lily and Forrest; his father Jeff Schmidt (Sue); his sister Melissa Schmidt; his grandmother Alvina Hundley; his parents-in-law, Phoebe Tobias and Lyle Johnston (Vicki); and his siblings-in-law, Natalie Johnston, Dana Johnson (Zack), Josh Applegate (Jeni), Crystal Applegate (Walter) and Cody Applegate. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is set up for his family.
