He was predeceased by: his father Max Heckendorf; his wife Helen M. Launderville; and his grandson Matthew Nelson. He is survived by: his children, John Heckendorf (Susan), Garth Heckendorf (Carrie) and Karen Nelson (Scott); his grandchildren, Desirae Reece (Chad), Danielle Reich (Adam), Jeremey Heckendorf, Nicholas Nesbitt, Ashlee Nesbitt and Melissa Curran (Joe); and his great grandchildren, Caden Reece, Cole Reece and Spencer Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the River Bend Trail in memory of Norman.
