He was predeceased by: his father Willard Hanson; and his siblings, Duane Hanson, Willard Hanson Jr., Janice Crass, Rose McDonald, Norman Hanson and Suzette Winterfeldt.
He is survived by: his children, Nathan Hanson, Damien Hanson (Sejin) and Ryan Hanson (Casey); his grandchildren, Emily, Scott, Dean, Nichole, Jacob and Reily; and his siblings, Caroline McKinnon, Audrey Pophal, Diana Earling, Raymond Hanson, Flora Forster and Paulette Hoffman. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
