Mary Magdalene Miklautsch Obituary

Mary M. Miklautsch (nee Thiel) passed away peacefully on July 14, 2023. She was born in Sturgeon Bay, WI to Mary and Nick Thiel. Loving mother of daughter Karen Bachmann, son Robert (Jennie) Miklautsch. Grandmother to Andrew (Sydney) Bachmann, Adam Bachmann, Amanda Bachmann, Ryan Miklautsch, Ethan Miklautsch, and Maggie Miklautsch. Dear aunt to nephews David Miklautsch and John (April) Miklautsch.

Mary was a long time member of the Sussex Lioness, actively working their Sussex Lions Daze food booth. She was also an integral member of their College scholarship committee. She was active in Boy Scouts as a scout parent, troop committee member and Eagle Court of Honor advisor.

She was involved in her community as a regular volunteer at the Sussex and later Menomonee Falls Food Pantry. She was active in the Visiting Nurses Association helping caregivers of homebound patients get some respite. She was a classroom volunteer in the Hamilton School District in the classroom and later as a Pen Pal.

Mary was a known exercise walker around Sussex, walking 2-3 times a day with her four legged family member Duke. At her last residence, she still walked 1-2 times a day on the walking track while in her 80's.

Mary was an avid traveler in her later years, going on trips with friends to Italy, Ireland, Alaska, and the Grand Canyon to name a few.

Mary loved to play cards. While at her last residence, she could be found playing several card games-sheepshead, euchre, cribbage or 3-13 several days a week.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald R. Miklautsch, her brothers George, Clarence, sisters Rose and Irene and niece Susan Miklautsch.

Private burial and private. Celebration of Life will be held on July 29, 2023.
