Finn, Gary R.
Born on March 10, 1943 and passed away on August 3, 2023 at the age of 80. Cherished husband of Debra (nee Giesen). Father of Jason (Melissa) Polzin and Kim. Grandfather of Bennett and Maggie. Brother of the late Patti (Jim) Holmes and the late Judy (Tom) Schmidt. Preceded in death by his parents Richard Finn and Betty (Arthur) Druschel. Further survived by many loving family members, neighbors, and friends.
Gary graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School in 1961. He proudly served in the US Airforce from 1961-1965 while stationed in Germany as a telecommunications technician. Afterwards, he attended UWM, receiving a bachelor's degree in education in 1971, and earning his master's degree in 1975. He taught for over 35 years in the Germantown School District, with most of his years at Amy Belle Elementary- teaching grades 1-4. He was honored with the Wisconsin Exemplary Science Teacher award in 1991 and was Employee of the Year during the 1992-1993 school year. Gary was an advocate for numerous sciences, especially the ocean sciences, working closely with marine resources. Following retirement, Gary continued sharing his love of science at Carroll University as a professor. He was also certified in scuba diving in 1996 and enjoyed diving all over the world. During their retirement, Gary and Deb loved to travel. They considered their Orange Beach, AL friends to be their second family.
Visitation will be Saturday August 12, 2023 at St. James Catholic Church, W220 N6588 Town Line Rd. in Menomonee Falls, from 9am until time of Memorial Mass at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gary's name to Marine Resources in Key Largo, FL or to the American Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
