Billie Jean Blum Obituary

Of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. (nee Strong) Passed away on January 4th, 2024 at the age of 79. Born on August 30th, 1944 to Melvin Strong and Jean (nee Gates) in Wittenberg, Wi., Billie became the oldest of 5 children with siblings Julie, Steve, Nick, and Robin. After graduating from Wittenberg High School, she earned her RN license and went on to be a successful RN for many years.

Billie could be a stubborn, feisty, red-headed lady, but she always had an open heart and deeply cared for others. Her love for her family was quite known, always being the topic of discussion, she loved talking about her children and grandchildren and how proud of them she was. Having six grandchildren and one great grandchild, they kept her pretty busy. From all the sporting events, after school activities, to her grandchildren's first steps, she was always there for them.

When Billie was not spending time with her family, you could find her at the local church with her dearest friends. She was an active member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, located in Richfield, Wi. Billie was adamant to attend service every week, always bringing family with her to cherish the moments. She made sure to participate in all the activities and volunteer for events that helped the community.

Reading was a big part of Billie's life, and she was a frequent attender at the local public library, always looking for the newest murder mystery novel. She kept track of every book she read that year, making it a goal to surpass last year's number. Billie would love to gift her books and various book markers to others, where she will live on through the art of reading.

She also loved traveling, theater, and music.

Billie is survived by her two children Nikkie (Chad) and Rennie; six grandchildren Gavin (Natalie), Amber (Liam), Cole, Jared, Cade, and Kaleb, and her great-grandchild Jameson.

Visitation will be held at SCHMIDT AND BARTELT FUNERAL HOME in Menomonee Falls on Sunday, January 14th from NOON until the time of service at 1:00 p.m.
