He was predeceased by: his parents, Hildegard Schmelter (Jensen) and Elmer Schmelter; his wife Margaret Schmelter (Peggy Curry); and his sister Sallie. He is survived by: his children, Mara Marks (Steve) of DePere, WI, Stacy Courtney of Appleton, WI and Raymond W. Schmelter of Oshkosh, WI.; his grandchildren, Michael Schmelter (Gracie), Marisa Marks of Madison, WI and Lydia Courtney of Appleton, WI.; his great grandchildren, Charlie, Colbe Curry, A'layjah and Santana; and his brother Donald. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Dr. Schmelter's name.
