She was predeceased by: her parents, Rubin LaPlant and Angeline LaPlant (Fischer); her husband Donald Van Deraa; her son Michael; her grandchildren, Brooke and Cara; her great grandchild Luca; and her siblings, Shirley (Frank), Harold, Ikey and Bobby.

She is survived by: her children, Rose (Tom), Thomas (Lisa), Ronald (Carla), Mary (Kenny), Brenda, Steven, Darlene (Jesse), Tammy and Leon (Shelly). She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren.
