He was predeceased by: his parents, Verdie Niskanen and Shirley Niskanen (Leighton); his stepfather Vern "Mannie" Goodwin; his stepbrother Verne Goodwin; his mother-in-law Donna Hoyer; and his brothers-in-law, Daniel Hoyer, Larry Hoyer and Darwin Boadwine.
He is survived by: his wife Theresa Hoyer; his children, Roxanne Severance (Paul), Deanna Rhodes (Spencer) and Dylan Niskanen (Diana); his grandchildren, Theaden, Corbin, Oliver Severance, Juniper and Simon Rhodes; his brother Verdie Jr. Niskanen (Theresa); his father-in-law John Hoyer; and his siblings-in-law, Gary Hoyer (Grace), Mary Vadnais and Betty Boadwine. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
