He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin and Mary; his brother Marvin Rettler (Diane); his parent-in-law Ransom Tourville; his brothers-in-law, Robert Tourville and Duane Tourville; and also Theresa Tourville.

He is survived by: his wife Carol; his children, Sandra, Duane Rettler (Lynn) and Ryan Rettler (Nina); his grandchildren, Amber Rettler, Jessica Kundinger (Eric), Jennifer, Jonathan and Jacob Rettler; his siblings, Rita Peters and Dan Rettler (Maija); and also, Jack Tourville (Bev), Barbara Tourville, Joan Steeves, Margaret Mullins and Mickey Simpson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Norm's name.
