He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert Burgess and Carrie Burgess (Johnson); and his brother James Burgess. He is survived by: his wife Betty Burgess; and his children, James Burgess (Laure), Karl Burgess (Carol), Denis Burgess (Linda Kocourek), Dale Burgess (Julie), Paul Burgess (Jaycee) and Vickie Mytinger (Richard). He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the Blue Ox Trail Riders or the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford, in Ray's memory.
