He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert "Don" McCarthy and Rosemary "Sis" McCarthy (Greenwood). He is survived by: his brothers, James of Chippewa Falls, Michael McCarthy (Brenda Berg) of Chippewa Falls and John McCarthy of Altoona; and his nieces, Erin McCarthy (Matthew Oglesby), Nicole Cuarta (Jose) and Jennifer Murray. He is also survived by several great nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
