She was predeceased by: her parents, Willard Veldhorst and Eunice Veldhorst (Harmelink); her brothers, Wesley Veldhorst and Howard Veldhorst; and her brother-in-law Ralph De Smidt.
She is survived by: her husband Robert De Smidt; her children, Jeffrey De Smidt (Deanne), Anne and Jennifer De Smidt; her grandchildren, Justin, Kelsi De Smidt, Jerod and Ashley De Smidt; her sister Dorothy Jensema (Glenn); and her sisters-in-law, Helen Veldhorst, Alyce Veldhorst and Shirl De Smidt. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Doris's name to Campus Life and Words of Hope.
