He was predeceased by: his parents, Rex Thomas and Audrey Thomas (Bazzill); and his siblings, Michael Thomas and Linda Morton. He is survived by: his children, Jennifer Thomas (Patrick) of Baraboo and Ben Thomas (Jen) of Baraboo; his sisters, Terri Thomas (Denise) of Baraboo and Jackie Vander Zanden (Wayne) of Verona; his siblings-in-law, Jeff Morton of Lake Delton and Anne Marie Thomas of Wauwatosa; his grandchildren, Steven Ernst, Brennan Burnell, Ian Thomas, Abigail Thomas and Rain Thomas; his great grandchild Dahlia Ernst; his former wife Patricia Thomas; and his close friends, Joe Maraszek and Dean Bothell. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
