He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Hoosen and Dorothy Van Hoosen (Seitz); his former wife Deborah "Debbie" Ramsey; his sisters, Betty Walburg, Patti Van Hoosen and Tammy Van Hoosen; and his fathers-in-law, Richard "Dick" Ramsey and Robert L. Buffington.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda; his children, Justin Van Hoosen (Dori), Tyler Van Hoosen, Michelle Bahe (Josh), Megan Padley, Michael Padley (Gina) and Matthew Padley (Marissa Marshall); his grandchildren, MaKenna, Cameron, Hoffman, Scarlet, Gianna, Layton and Otto; his mothers-in-law, Donna Ramsey and Peggy Buffington; and his brother-in-law Bryan Buffington (Cathy). He is also survived by other relatives and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be used in Johns name at a later date.
