He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Goetz and Alice Goetz (Roberts); his wife Sandra Gates; and his siblings, William Gates and Esther Nelson.
He is survived by: his children, Bob Gates (Marty) of Plain, Lee Gates (Rose) of Portage, Paul Gates of Spring Green and Sheila Lindauer of Dodgeville; and his sister-in-law Wanda Gates of Arena. He is also survived by half brother, 2 half sisters all of Tacoma, WA; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a local food pantry.
