She was predeceased by: her parents, Raymond Stephani and Mary Stephani; her son Dan Hofacker; her granddaughter Hope Hofacker; her siblings, Mike Stephani, Frank Stephani, Rosanne Hofacker and Jim Stephani; and the father of her children Paul Hofacker.

She is survived by: her son Deacon Jeff Hofacker (Laura); her grandchildren, Lathan and Rachel; her son Greg Hofacker (Jodi); her grandchildren, Collin (Olivia), Caden and Carson; her daughter Jenny Stelow (Andy); her grandchildren, Lauren and Alyssa; her daughter-in-law Gail Hofacker; her grandchildren-in-law, Abby and Amanda; her sisters, Cathy Green (Rich) and Ann Weyenberg (Rick); and her sisters-in-law, Janice Stephani and Sally Stephani. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Mary Ellen's name.
