He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. J. Edward Hakes and Lois Hakes (Wyngarden); and his brother Joe Hakes. He is survived by: his wife Jean Hakes (Wick); his sons, Jonathan Hakes (Alyssa) of Appleton, WI and Justin Hakes (Vlasta) of Washington, DC; his grandchildren, Ricky Hakes, Malcolm Hakes (WI) and Anna Hakes (DC); his brother Jay (Anita) Hakes; and his sister-in-law Sue Hakes of Bristow, VA. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, a nephew.
