He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Chancellor Wishop Gummow and Elizabeth Woodall Gummow; his former wife June V. Rape Webb; his wife Cora A. Austin; his children, Sigrid Koehler of Murietta, CA, Theresa Gummow of San Antonio, TX and Kurwin Gummow of Kennewick, WA; his stepson Gordon Austin of Tucson, AZ; his nieces and nephews, Don, Debi Grenseman and Walla Walla; and his siblings, Elaine Mae Gummow Wamsley of Clinton, UT, Gladys Marie Gummow Johnson of Schurz, NV, Olive Vernell Gummow of Heyburn, ID, John Fred (Harriet), Jerry Lee Gummow of St. George, UT, Jay Lavern Gummow, Delores G. Gummow Heimgartner and Edith Gummow. He was also cherished by several grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Chance and Cora enjoyed retirement as volunteers with the local Walla Walla Cheese Giveaway and Saturday Pantry for many years and were given the RSVP Volunteers of the Year 1999 award.
