Richard George Wales Obituary
Richard George Wales, 83, of Silverdale, WA passed away on the 23rd of May 2022. He was born July 30, 1938 in Madison OH to George and Ruby Wales. Richard spent his early life in Winthrop Washington where he Graduated from Winthrop High School in 1950 and was a volunteer in the forest service in Winthrop.
After leaving Winthrop he worked for a short time in Aviation for Boeing but eventually found his way to Poulsbo, WA and into the communications industry where he worked as an installer/project manager/technician. He worked for United Poulsbo World Telephone/United Telephone which merged with Sprint where he retired after 30 years. Richard was well regarded in his industry, starting in the times of manual switchboards and moving through to overseeing large projects utilizing digital telephone and internet technologies. His work and talents called him all across the US.
Richard was an active volunteer and member of his church and community. He was well respected and a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He loved sports, and was an avid softball player. He loved classic cars and took much pride in restoring many beautiful vehicles over the years.
Preceded in death Mother Ruby, Father Walter, Brother Ron, Daughter Alicia. He is survived by his Wife Joanne, Daughters Carol and Tammy, 3 Grandchildren Zane, Melony and Jason, 6 Great Grandchildren Jesse, Zachary, Pele, Anna, Sarah and Angelina
A memorial will be held at Silverdale Lutheran Church Saturday the 11th at 1 o'clock PM
