He was predeceased by: his parents, Claire Hanks and Lucy Hanks; his wives, Lorraine Hanks and Doris-Ann Hanks; his children, David Lloyd Hanks and Le-Ann Slayton; and his great grandchild John David Belford.
He is survived by: his daughters, Jere-Ann Hanks of Olympia, De-Ann Hanks Lotspeich (Todd Lotspeich) of Lacey and Mari-Ann Hanks of Olympia; and his son-in-law Al Slayton. He is also survived by six grandchildren; and two great grandsons.
