He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Ray Sleater and Emma Sleater (Hill); his siblings, Larry, Chuck and Dodie Perry; his wife Deloris; his children, Adelia "Dee" Yeager, Gerald "Jerry" Jr. (Winona), Linda Sleater and Patricia "Patty" Vaught (Dave); and his grandchildren, David Yeager, Jerry D. Sleater, Patrick Clark, Scott Sleater, Dana DeWeber and Kasi Sleater. He was also cherished by 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
