It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sylvia A. Makkonen (Bridgewater Corners, Vermont), who passed away on March 14, 2018, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. She is survived by: her parents, John Jacob and Iiri Vera Korpi (Knuttennen); her children, Iiri Makkonen of Reading, VT and Annemarie Fritz of Rockport, MA; her stepchildren, Veronica Makkonen of Gloucester, MA and Niilo Makkonen, III of Gloucester, MA; her grandchildren, Ginger, Emily, Jack, Kaelee and Liam; her brothers, John Korpi and Onni Korpi; her husband Niilo J. "Flipper" Makkonen, Jr.; and her brother George. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
