She was predeceased by: her parents, Luapo Atiga and Ioana Atiga; her siblings, Puna Belford and Luapo Atiga; and her husband Frederick T. Gates.

She is survived by: her children, Diana L. Gates of Newport News and David E. Gates of Dearborn, MI; her daughter-in-law Lora Beth Gates "Beth" of Dearborn, MI; her grandchildren, Joshua, Sandy, Emma and Noah; her sister Ana Barrett of Kerrville, TX; her sons, Frank, Bill and Stephen; and her brothers, Fono Atiga of California and Joe Atiga (Tangikimoana Atiga) of Utah.

Memorial contributions may be made to Maranatha Baptist Church Missions, 221 Hampton Hwy, Yorktown, Va. 23693.
