He was predeceased by: his wife Linda Bottoms McKeel; his daughter Susan Lee McKeel; his parents, Lemmie McKeel and Joseph McKeel; and his brother Joseph Watson McKeel.

He is survived by: his daughter Lisa Rae McKeel; his siblings, Lillie Vonciel Sears, Harold McKeel, Frank McKeel and James McKeel; and his close friend Betty Lowe.
