He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold B Shirkey and Eltie Bly Shirkey; and his sister Julia Tusing. He is survived by: his wife Gertrude 'Trudy' Shirkey of Woodstock; his daughters, Brenda Zirkle (Jeff Zirkle) of New Market and Tammy Bowman (Byron Bowman) of Mt Jackson; his grandchildren, Joshua Jones (Jessica Jones) of Woodstock, Jade Bowman of Mt Jackson, Dyannie Bowman of Bryce, Bonnie Sisk-Bowman of Woodstock and Megan Bowman of West Virginia; his great grandchildren, Blair, Cora Jones, Jasmine Seitz-Bowman, Chad Stickley Jr, Hailey Stickley, Logan, Kloe, Sophia and Emma Higgerson; and his siblings, Harold Shirkey, Jr (Janet) of Broadway, David Shirkey (Sandy) of Woodstock, Kenneth 'Butch' Shirkey of Mt Jackson and Maxine Hughes.
