He was predeceased by: his father Louis Carroll Tate; and his stepfather Billy Shortt of Wise, VA.. He is survived by: his pet Peaches; his son David Tate Jr. of Norton; his mother Bonnie Artrip Shortt of Wise; his brother Joe Tate of Wise; his stepbrothers, Terry Shortt of North Bend, OR and Chris Shortt of Petersburg, VA; and his aunts, Carolyn Artrip and Marilyn Kuhn. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, a host of cousins, friends and extended family.
