She was predeceased by: her parents, Harvey Johnson, and Gracie Johnson, Sr.; and her siblings, James Wilson, Wesley Johnson Sr., Frank Johnson and Betty Mae Johnson.

She is survived by: her husband Marvin Fowlkes Sr.; her son Marvin Jr.; her siblings, Patricia Crute, Harvey C Johnson Jr. (Arletha), Wilbur L Johnson (Jean) and Wayne L Johnson Sr. (Thandi); her aunt Bertha Payne; her siblings-in-law, Clara Wilson, Arlene Johnson, Rachel Johnson, Berniece Crawley and Richard Fowlkes (Rosa); her niece Knekesha Rochelle Crute; her great-niece Melia (Lil Lucy); and her close friend Eileen Jefferson. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

During the pandemic, she began attending Bible Study, Sunday School, Midweek and Sunday service virtually at her sister's church, Fifth Baptist Church In Richmond, VA where Rev. Earl and Dr. Ricardo Brown pastor.
