He was predeceased by: his parents, Aldie Carpenter and Edith Young Carpenter; and his siblings, Barbara Beasley and Larry Smith. He is survived by: his wife Mary Elizabeth Barger Carpenter; his daughters, Victoria Harris and Regina Carpenter; and his grandchildren, Kimberly Lankford, Todd, Timothy Pond, Angela Wilson, Steven Wilson and Debra Wilson. He is also survived by grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; brothers and sister-in-law.
