He was loved and cherished by many people including: his children, Tim (Chris), Mike (Carol), Matt (Patty), Eileen (Ralph Yates) and Peggy (Chris Campbell); his brother Dan (Nancy); his wife Pat; his daughter Colleen; and his parents, Elsie (Doerner) and Harold O'Connell, Sr.. He was also cherished by twelve grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
