It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rico Thadeaus Scales of Spencer, Virginia, born in Martinsville, Virginia, who passed away on November 5, 2021, at the age of 34, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his father James Junior Scales; and his grandparents, Lovey, America Scales and Harold Copening. He is survived by: his mother Sharon Copening Scales; his wife Kimberly Lawson Scales; his children, Alexia Odberg, Layla Scales, Jayna Hagwood, Lyric Whisenton and Raquish Marshall; and his siblings, Jolethe Copening, Latoyal Hairston and Junior "B. J.".
