He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Beddington Dalton and Homie Eanes Dalton; and his sisters, Frances Motley, Effie Epperson and Janie Blanks.
He is survived by: his children, Beverly Woody (Mike) of Lynchburg, Gordon B. Dalton (Tammy) of Richland and Chris Dalton (Heather) of Evergreen; the mother of his children Janis M. Cage of Rustburg; his siblings, Alton Dalton (Gloria), Avery Dalton and Lillian Barksdale; and his close friend Doris Haley. He is also survived by six grandchildren and four great grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association.
