She is survived by: her son John Thompson, Jr.; her wife Linda of Ringgold, VA; her daughter Lisa Russell (Bob) of Danville, VA; her grandchildren, Ryan Cole of Danville, VA, Jacob Thompson of Ringgold, VA and Jessica Cox of Tampa, FL; her sisters, Nina Peek of Ringgold, VA, Mary Lenora Wood of Texas and Flora Turner of South Carolina; her aunt Lucille Gravely of Danville, VA; and her daughter Wimbish Dr. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
