He was predeceased by: his parents, David William and Thelma Jean Lewis Barthel. He is survived by: his wife Gerlinde "Gerry" Barthel; his children, Thanja Barthel, Tobias Barthel and Raphael Barthel (Marieke); and his siblings, David Lewis Barthel (Sally Jane), Betty Lynn Gotcher, Karl Barthel (Kelly) and Bryon Barthel (Michelle). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
