She was predeceased by: her parents, Guy Howard and Edna Reed Akers; and her husband Ira Dwight Shorter. She is survived by: her sons, Dwight Jay (Judy Shorter) and John Scott (Paula Shorter); her grandchildren, Chris, Alysha Shorter, Devin Shorter, Ellie Shorter, Izzie Shorter, John Shorter, Ken, Lori Keister and Matt Keister; her great grandchildren, Knox, Nash Shorter, Grant and Jacqueline Keister; and her sister Ann Vaughan of Christiansburg. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
