With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Marguerite Dent Smith (Portsmouth, Virginia), born in Buckingham, Virginia, who passed away on July 9, 2024 at the age of 94. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Dent and Vivian Frayser Dent; her children, Norman Proffitt, Jr. and Nellie Gaile Bishop; her son-in-law Thomas Bishop; and her grandchildren, Jamie M. Bishop and Tommie Diane Bishop.
She is survived by: her children, Dale Knowles (Paul) and Willie Proffitt (Velinda). She is also survived by three grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
