He was predeceased by: his parents, Jess Lee Collins and Madeline Anna Cosner Collins; and his brother-in-law Woody Lantz. He is survived by: his wife LaVergne Thomas Collins; his children, Karen C. (Melvin Harman), Ginger C. (Mark Hutter) and Col. Darrell; his daughter-in-law Jessica Collins of Fort Eustis; his grandchildren, Thomas Wayne Kellam, Josh Kellam, Zack Hutter, Grace Hutter, Madeline Hutter, Hannah Collins and Ethan Collins; his stepchildren, Alexis E. King (Bennie) of Stella and Rodney W. East (Tammy) of Stuart; his stepgrandchildren, Alyssa Welty and Sidney Giguere; his foster son Tim Shoup, Jr. of Martinsville; and his siblings, Fay (Earnest Moore), Ruth (Fraser Davis), Joan Lantz of Durbin, Thelma (Howard Smith), Howard (Dorothy Collins) and Arthur (Karen Collins). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
