With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Lourenda Slone Gibson of Newport News, Virginia, born in Pippa Passes, Kentucky, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 16, 2024. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her children, Ginger Buskee (Pat) of Newport News, Linwood "Tommy" Gibson, Jr. of Newport News and Joyce Allen of Newport News; her brother Effort Slone (Joy); her husband Linwood Thomas Gibson, Sr.; her parents, Virginia Ferguson and Ted Slone; her grandparents, Mandy and Roscoe Slone (Mommy); her siblings, Lloyd, Wheeler, Glen, Lula Mae, Ival, Violet, Lillie, Louise, Jane and Kathy; and her granddaughter Leigh. She was also cherished by nieces and nephews.
With Rita's love of children in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Hope Pentecostal Holiness Church, Reference: Rita Gibson, 80 Groome Road, Newport News, VA 23601. The memorial donations will support the Children's Ministry.
